Is there a way to set the proxy server in Messenger 8.1 separate from IE. I
have to use one proxy server to surf the web and a different one to get
Messenger to work. Looking in the connection settings area it says it uses
IE settings, but I know in previous version you were able to set it
separately. Anyone know if there is a trick to do it.

  2. Greetings Mike,

I wish there was a trick but there isn't. What you can do is set the IE settings to what you
want in Messenger, then sign in and then change them to whatever you want for IE after.
Since you're already signed in, it should continue working.

  4. Hi Mike,

Excellent. Lousy workaround I must admit. Although you could easily automate this process I
think with some .reg files and a batch file to automatically set the setting, start Messenger
and then set it what you want.
