(PS) delays after idle-ing

  1. In Monad and also in PowerShell, after I leave the PS session idle for a
    long time, (as my computers stay on at night this happens often)

    when I start working again PS will react very slow.
    this will get better after a while but never completely goes away.

    Also after a shorter time already Tab-completion will "LAG" (up to 1/2 -
    1 second) this is very annoying of course while typing.

    a guess on my side, the Garbage Collector ?

    if so is it possible to leave them loaded all times,
    if not so why does this happen ?

  2. This is caused by Windows paging the memory if inactive programs to disk so
    that it can be used by other programs. The process of pulling all of the
    pages back into memory takes some time, which is why you see the lag.

    This is a problem that Windows Vista addresses with its SuperFetch
    technology:
