Recording the wrong channel through the cable set top box?

I'm using MCE 2005 on a HP pavilion, with the cable settop box acting as the
receiver. I've had problems lately where I set up to record a program on a
specific channel, it records a program that it states is on the correct
channel, but it has recorded the program on a different channel. It is
possible that the channel is left on the most recent channel used, but I
haven't remembered to check it. I rebooted the computer and the set top box,
but the issue occurred again the next time I tried to record a program. These
have been set up to record at a certain time, and not on the fly.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for you assistance.

Have you checked to be sure that your IR blaster is working properly and/or
not located properly or too close to your STB that the STB does not always
    receive the signals?

Do the channels always change accurately when you are just watching TV
through Media Center or do they occasionally need a couple of tries to get
them to change? If so, check to make sure the IR emitters is working
correctly and is still in position on the Set Top Box.

    I have the same issue!!!
    Everything works great !
Remote (MCE) works everytime on changing channels.
The bug flashes every time using the remote channel select.
The bug is taped over the right spot on the bezel of the STB
STB is the latest from Comcast my cable provider.
The signal strenght on the cable is at max.(comcast cable external
    equipments here are antqiue)

But the remote scheduled recording only changes channels 50 % of the time to
the right channel or will not make the switch at all and leave iitself on the
    previous channel switched channel.

It is very possible that if the bug is taped down then it is too close to
the STB and is in fact not directly over the correct spot. It is
recommended that it be away from the surface of the STB maybe a 1/4 of an
inch or more to be sure that the position errors do not occur.

I don't use and STB, but I believe there is a way to control the speed of
the IR commands sent in case it sending too fast for the STB sensor.

  7. You're correct, but you have to run back through TV signal setup again.
Then you can lie to MCE and tell it that the STB is not changing channels
correctly and try a lower signal speed.

    Thanks All,

I've tried every suggestion except for the restore, and haven't had success
changing the channels with either the MCE remote, or the keypad on the
    keyboard.

Is it possible that the IR transmitter is faulty, or that the set top box
needs some kind of different configuration?

    THANKS! Doug
Changing the speed to Slow solved this issue!!!

Now if I could only get the 'digital Audio service' fixed and intermittant
recording no audio I would be back to normal.

I started a thread to ask this question. I too have this problem. It
changes channels like the set up asks, but when I have it record a program,
it will only record what I have on my regular tv screen. I have dish network
and a 522 dvr. Will the dvr conflict with the media center? I dont know why
it wont change channel to record what I set it up to record? only what is on
the channel I am watching , live tv... please help

Does MCE change the channels correctly when just watching TV?
