Is there a tool to recover files from a corrupt VHD?

It's probably not what you're looking for, but when I hit something
like that, I just attach that .vhd to a known working VM and then use
that to run chkdsk and to copy files out.

Thank you for your response. I already know of that trick. The problem is
that when I attach it to a working VM, the working VM refuses to load even
though the corrupt VHD is set as a second hard drive. So I think what I
really need is a file repair utility as I believe the file itself is corrupt.

  5. Try VHDMount from Virtual Server R2 SP1 installation.

  6. You can also try WinImage.

It can parse VHDs with an Explorer-like interface.

Thanks a lot. This worked like a charm.

You can use a tool called Kernel for VHD Recovery Tool which can extract data from Corrupt & Damaged virtual hard disk.
