System: Vista Business OEM pre-instaled on my laptop.
I have a recovery files on my external HDD (whole system). In help file to
it says to press F8 while booting, select "Repair computer" and follow
    instructons ...
On my advanced startup menu THERE IS NOT such option !!! What now? My systm
bacup is useless?. I don't have full Vista instalation disk, just Recovery CD
of pre installed system which allows only to recover to factory installed
    system.

    Hi Mwski,

This tutorial will show you how to create a Recovery Disc, not like
your OEM one, that will allow you to boot into the Startup Recovery
Options screen. From there you can run a few options that might be able
to help you. This tutorial will explain each option in the link under
    the Example.

    Hope this help,
    Shawn

mwski- Regarding "...I have a recovery files on my external HDD (whole
system)...." - how did you "get" the recovery files on the external drive?
By use of a backup utility or copying the recovery CD?

Most likely (not sure) booting from the recovery CD will present the F8
    repair option.
