Registry Editors

Discussion in 'Windows Vista General Discussion' started by Synapse Syndrome, Dec 6, 2006.

  1. The Vista regedit.exe is just the same as the old one. I am trying to
transfer and save certain application keys to make migration and
    reinstallations less tedious.

Does anybody know of any good extensions or replacements for regedit? I
have found these two so far, but haven't tried them yet. Please tell me if
    you know of anything better.

    RegWorks - http://www.regwrks.com/

    RegEditX - http://www.dcsoft.com/products/regeditx/

    Cheers

  2. Hi. Thanks, I'll have a look at that registry cleaner, as it is said to be
Vista compatible. But I was asking about registry editors, not cleaners, as
Vista has the same old limited regedit.exe.

  3. Hello,
You can also try using the cmdline registry tool reg.exe.This is much more
    powerful than using regedit
When extracting reg values and pushing out reg values this is very useful

    Thanks,

  4. Ah thanks. I was unaware of this. It looks like it could be useful for
extracting keys when I know where they are, without having to navigate to
    them.

I've also been playing around with RegWorks, and I think it's pretty good,
so I will be buying the Lite version for $15.

    Cheers
