Remote Desktop - Automatically Logs off after 1 second

Discussion in 'Windows Server' started by Landon Gilmore, Jul 9, 2004.

  1. I did a hardware upgrade last night on my server and
everything went fine. Can still log on locally but now
when I try to log on remotely (over LAN or over Internet)
it logs in, the blue background comes up, and then it
    instantly logs me back off.

This is extremely frustrating and it makes no sense why
    it should start doing this.

I would really appreciate any help available.

  2. Hi Landon,
you have added a new video card or at least the drivers?
I have read in another thread that the Nvidia driver helper service may
    cause this behaviour.
If it fits to your situation, disable the service and remove all entries
refering to NVidia from the Run key in the Registry.
    Best greetings from Germany
    Olaf.

  3. Olaf, thanks very much for the tip.

As a matter of fact, I realized that there were no
drivers installed for the old TNT2 video card that was
installed in the server. So, one of the things I did last
night was to install some Nvidia reference drivers for
it. I bet your guess is exactly correct...

I will try it tonight when I get home from work.

    Thanks again.
