I want to use a computer as a music server but have it hidden in a cabinet
without keyboard or display. Then use remote devices e.g. wireless laptop or
other remotes to run the server. But the server will need to be put into
sleep or hibernation mode, and also woken up remotely. Can this be done?
    please advise and thanks.

Yes it can. With the MCE remote and receiver installed just press the pc power button (top right).
