I am running DFS in a mixed 2000/2003 environment. The DFS root is on 2000
advanced server, the links are on 2003 boxes. I am needing to change the name
of a directory, but when attempting to do this I am getting an error stating
"cannot rename, access is denied, make sure disk is not full or write
protected, and that the file is not currently in use" I initially thought
that disabling the links would allow me to do this, but still got message.
    Any ideas?

    thanks

  2. This could be a red herring and not be anything to do with Dfs -then again,
it might well be caused by Dfs. I'd stop the Dfs and Server services,
rename the file, and then start them again.

I would also, just to be sure, check the current open files, etc.
