Most newer laptops come with either restore disks or a restore partition on
the hard drive. If you didn't get disks with your laptop, then look for the
restore partition. Boot the laptop, hit F8 over and over again while the
laptop boots and that should take you to the restore partition. Then you'll
have some options including a complete restore. That procedure will
overwrite your hard drive with a new image of Vista. You will lose any
unsaved data (pictures, docs, etc.) and any programs that you installed
after you bought the laptop. So if you can, be sure to save any data before
    a restore. HTH, J

Read the manual for your UNIDENTIFIED laptop. The maker of your laptop
will tell you how to recover/restore.

Thought I'd write this newsgroup to save time instead of reading the manual.
I have found some knowledgeable people in the newsgroups who have been of
help to me. You are not one of them.

They'll just duplicate the instructions in the manual or make *guesses*
on an UNIDENTIFIED laptop. Probably took longer to fire up your
newsreader, write up the post, submit it here, and return looking for
replies than finding it in the manual.
