Reverted to IE 6, but popups not working properly

Discussion in 'Internet Explorer' started by CalifornianEskimo, Jan 29, 2007.

  1. My computer was updated and internet explorer 7 was installed. Popups were
not working, so internet explorer 7 was uninstalled, the computer rebooted
    and internet explorer 6 reappeared.
A popup is needed, but I get an error dialog box that pop up blockers are
being used. I have turned off popup blockers, and still get the error
message. I turned it on and allowed the site I needed it to work on to
bypass the disallow yet I still get the error message. In the popup
settings, I checked "show information bar when a popup is blocked", and when
I get the error message that a popup was blocked, the status bar shows me
    that a popup was allowed.

  2. Do you have any third-party toolbars? Many of them block popups.

  3. Frank,
I had a hard time finding this newsgroup again. But I've disabled 3rd party
software, tried Microsoft's Article ID 281679 except verifying registry
items, tried everything on the following page that states how IE is to work
with the application I need to use:
    http://www.stanford.edu/services/ess/pc/docs/ie/ie_6.html, and I've
downloaded the Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP Service Pack 2.
So I still get the popup error message, but a window opens now (after
article 281679), but the next window has a select button, which when pressed
an error message comes up stating: class does not support automation. Thanks
    for any help.
