Rewind music in WMP10?

When listening to music, the "Rewind" option in the Play menu is always
greyed-out regardless of audio format. I've tried mp3s, WMAs of various
formats, and CDs on multiple Windows XP computers -- same result: no rewind.
"Fast Forward" however works well. Does anyone know why the "Rewind" function
    is unavailable in WMP10? Thanks!

Called Microsoft Support regarding this issue. They referred me to Q271803
    (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;271803) which they
said was written for WMP7.X but still applies to WMP10. It states that
"Rewind" is only available for video files. However, it incorrectly states
that "Fast Forward" is only available for video files whereas in reality,
Fast Forward works properly for music files also. So this article is clearly
    out of date.

I have found very little information on this problem which seems strange to
me. I would think everyone would want to know why a feature that everyone
takes for granted on their component CD player would not be present on
Microsoft's media player. Does it not bug the hell out of everyone that you
cannot back up a few seconds in a music file to replay a drum fill you just
    heard?!

I understand that the slider provides that functionality but I'm looking for
a way to do it from a remote control.
