[SBS 2003 Std] Mointoring Website: The page cannot be found

Discussion in 'Windows Small Business Server' started by Karlheinz Blank, Dec 30, 2004.

  1. Hi,
I have my SBS 2003 up and running quite a while. Runs like a rock!

But I now wanted to use the Monitoring and Reporting feature of SBS 2k3.
I successfully can run the wizard (did select reinstall/modify in different
runs) but I always get 'The page cannot be found' error. What's confusing to
me is that if I want the report to be displays in the Server Management
MMC - I can see the HTTP 404 error and it says 'Open the localhost...'. Why
    is it referring to localhost?

I also cross checked the KB article @ Microsoft that says that there
shouldn't be any header information at the default website. That wasn't my
    problem :-|

First guess was a DNS problem - if I resolve the server names:

    ping localhost: 127.0.0.1 ok
    ping friend: 192.168.0.221 ok
    ping friend.xxx.local: 192.168.0.221 ok

The default website has 'all unassigned IPs' assigned.

    OWA works fine

    Any guess??

    Thanks
    Charlie
