SBS 2008 media kit

Discussion in 'Windows Small Business Server' started by Keith Templin, Mar 9, 2009.

  1. Ok so I had a SBS 2003 Premimum agreement on SA. I was entitled to SBS2008
and had one heck of a time getting any media. HP said since it was a open
value agreement Microsoft had to provide the media kit. Calling three
different numbers at MS, they all said open Value goes to the vendor (HP).
I raised enough hell that someone finally sent me something. I placed
photos of the media I recived on my blog:
    http://torxsmind.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!EDA7474416B9476B!425.entry.

I think I should have recived two more being part of the premium agreement.
Are my thoughts correct? What CD / DVDs are part of the premium kit?

What was the correct part number for the premium media kit?

  2. Dude that's standard edition they send you.

    You need SQL 2008 32/64
SQL 2005 32/64 and another Windows OS.

Call back and no HP does not do Open Value orders.

  3. That is what I thought. I think it should have been part # T75-00169
(Thanks Google) but not 100% sure.

Is there a special MS line / phone number to call?

    Hi Keith,

I just went through the same drama - after numerous emails to MS / My
Suppliers's / HP and 4 phone calls to MS I still was no further on and was
actually worse off as they have sent me Windows Server 03 R2, Share Point
Designer 2007, ISA Server Standard 2006, Outlook 2007 (for PC-user
ustomer) - none of which are any good to me and charged me $80 for the
    customs duty!!

In the end I ordered T75-02424 through my normal MS supplier for about NZ$60
and it has the product keys on it - yippee.....

    Thanks MS for making my life an e-open hell! (-;

  7. Ok let's start with all the numbers I have called:

MS Campaign Contact Info 866.325.0283 Talked with a agent who gave me two
    other numbers to try
MS Partner Support 800.765.xxxx (Secret handshake required) Used Google and
found this newsgroup thread, no help.
MS Partner Presales 800.642.xxxx (Secret handshake required) Agent tried to
be helpful but ran into brick walls, the same as I did. She tried to
    escalate, but could not help.
MS Licensing Fulfillment 800-336-0098 Every person I talked to pointed me
to this number, and each time I called it just in case I got a new person.
The fulfillment line all stated that it is HP's job to provide open value
media. Finally I got someone that would talk about open Value, but still
could not help me directly. The agent said HP needs to add a exception in
the call logging tool, to order SBS 2008 premium media since it is a Open
    Value.

Also she said the the part number T75-02424 was correct and only 3 DVDs were
included for premium. The Standalone Windows 2k8 and SQL 2008 was included
    in those three discs.

Does anyone have any media / images that would contest this, may be post
them to your blog? I really do not want to start the migration with the
    wrong media / product Keys.

    Thanks in Advance.

Old post - ran across this today because I was trying to find the part number once again. I ended up just calling the Microsoft Volume Service Center at 800-336-0098, gave them the agreement number, and they shipped it out at no cost :)
