SBS 2008, Outlook password prompts

Discussion in 'Windows Small Business Server' started by Stefan Edwardsson, Jan 13, 2010.

  1. Hi, we have a Small Business Server 2008 which has started to act strange.
All the users are getting prompted for passwords in their Outlooks all the
time, sometimes every minute. They are online and can use Outlook but are
getting these annoying password propmts. Remote users who are using
Outlook-http have no problem. Something has changed, perhaps by an
administrator, we don´t know. The servers internal FW is inactivated for
troubleshooting purposes but that didn't help. Any ideas someone?

  2. Install update rollup 9 for Exchange.

Log into the server. There's an icon in the system tray on the right
hand side indicating that there are patches downloaded but not
installed. click there, install the patches that are ready to go.

  3. Ok, that update had failed. When trying to install it this error occurs:

The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file: C:\Program
    Files\MIcrosoft\Exchange Server\RelNotes.htm

Any thoughts about how to correct this?

    Thanks,
    /Stefan

  4. Finally it worked, the rollup could be installed. It seams to have corrected
the problem with the logon prompts.

    Thank you,
    /Stefan
