I have found on my SBS 2003 Server that when using the Backup Configuration
Wizard, if I set a Tape Changer (meaning a user who will get reminded with
e-mail) that the Backup Settings fails with an error:
An unexpected error occurred (80070490). Element Noty Found.
If I leave the Tape Change blank it works!!
I think this is a way cool feature (although far from essential).

    Hi Tom,

Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.

From the description, I understand the issue to be: The backup wizard will
fail when you choose a Tape Changer on SBS. If I have misunderstood your
concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.

As I know, when using SBS Backup Wizard, you will be prompted to choose a
Tape Changer. This person is selected to be responsible for changing the
backup tapes and cleaning the drive. This person will receive a calendar
request for the day(s) that backup is scheduled to run.

To troubleshoot this issue, I would like to suggest followings and collect
    more information.

    1. Does the situation occur when you specify the domain admin as the tape
    changer on Backup wizard?
    2. Please create a new test user using Add Users wizard and specify the new
user as tape changer on Backup wizard, can the situation occur?
    3. Is the tape device listed as Compatible Device with Windows Server 2003
system? There is compatibility issue that the device cannot be correctly
recognized by the system. Please check if the backup device is in the HCL
    list:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/catalog/server/default.aspx?subID=22&xslt=h
    ardwarehome

If the issue still occurs, please try the following to see how thing goes:

    1. Rename hklm\software\microsoft\smallbusinessserver\backup and Program
    Files\Microsoft Small Business Server\Backup.
    2. Run SBS integrated setup.
    3. Select Reinstall next to Server Tools. Select None next to Intranet,
Monitoring, Networking, Administration, and Client Deployment.
    4. Reboot when prompted.

I am appreciated your time and look forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,

    Crina Li (MSFT)

Well I set up a new user called Test User, and so far he hasnt shown up in
the list of users that is provided in the 'Select a New Tape Changer' wizard.

The Tape drive is on the HCL, at least I think so. Why do people always
change the hyphens and slashes in product names. A PowerVault LTO2L with a
variety of hyphens and slashes or nothing between the O, the 2 and the L.

Is it important that this is an upgrade from 2000 with Exchange 5.5 Migrated
across. That was a struggle, and I can quite believe that it may have left
some damage, especially to Active Directory, which was originally an upgrade
    from NT4.

I notice that all my users are listed in a Users OrgU, rather than the
    MyBusiness/Users/SBSUsers OrgU.

I have already changed the registry/reinstalled as you suggest which didnt
    help.

Thanks and I hope that this additional info helps.

    Hi Tom,

    Thanks for your update.

To narrow down the problem, would you please help me collect the following
    information?

    1. Are there any error messages on event log?
    2. Please gather the latest NTbackup and SBS Backuprunner logs, compress
them to a ZIP file, and then attach them to newsgroup:

    1) The Backupxx.log files in the folder 'C:\Documents and Settings\SBS
    Backup User\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows
    NT\NTBackup\data'.

Note: Before reproduce the problem, please open NTBACKUP, click
"Tools"->"Options" and then check "Detailed" on the "Backup Log" tab. Then
reproduce this issue and attach the backup log (Tools->Report).

    2) The Sbsbackuplog0x.log files which can be located under the folder
    C:\program files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Support\Backup
    Logs.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
