SBS Client Computer wizard for Windows 2003 Server?

Discussion in 'Server Migration' started by Thomas Stewart, Jun 24, 2004.

  1. Hi.

I've used the "//servername/connectcomputer" feature of Windows 2003 SBS to
connect and migrate WinXP Pro and Windows 2000 Pro computers to the server.
Is there a similar method/tool to enable using that in Internet Explorer to
connect a client computer to the regular Windows 2003 server. Can that tool
be used on any other versions of the Windows Server products (Windows 2000
    Server or Windows 2000 SBS)?

    Thanks

  2. Hi Thomas,

    Thanks for your posting here.

This is SBS 2003 specific and this is not available in Windows Server 2003.
    I don't think there is a
way to move this component in Win2003 from SBS 2003 installation.

In Windows 2003 domain, you can try to use the netdom tool. For example:

    NETDOM JOIN /d:devgroup.microsoft.com \\mywksta

Please type "netdom help join" command to get more information.

You can install Windows Server 2003 Support tools from the Support\Tools
folder on Windows Server 2003 Setup CD.

    Have nice day!
