search using the "A word or phrase in the file" returns no results

Hi,

When I try to search for documents containing a specific word, I get no
results allthough the documents do contain the specific word. I have tried
several things all without the desired result:

* http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309173/en-us => did not help
* regsvr32 Offfilt.dll => did not help
* try Offfilt.dll from office 2003 => did not help
* latest office updates => did not help
* turn on indexing service advanced option 'index files with unknown
extensions' => did not help

OS used: Windows 2000 advanced server SP4/Windows 2000 Pro SP4
Office used: Office XP up to date
Documents searched: WinWord (.doc)
Location of docs: network share hosted by a Windows 2003 Ent. Ed. server

When I try the same search on a windows XP machine with office 2003 (up to
date), I do get the right results. (Two Word documents, containing the
specific verb searched for).

Does anyone have an idea regarding this issue? In forward thanks!
