Has anyone had trouble installing this new patch. I have tried two different
Windows XP systems with SP2 with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

That's exactly the same problem I had. I've sent a request to Microsoft. It
looks like an issue on their end that will be resolved over the day or so.

  7. Download the update directly, then install it.
(It failed to install on my PC also, but this alternative method succeeds)

Tommy: I just checked the manual download link because I used it earlier
when WU failed to install it, and it list's "Dutch" in the language version.

I checked the knowledge base for this error 0x80242006 but could not locate it.
I clicked the link of the update on the "install updates" page, it gave me a
little window with a link "more details" about this update,
I clicked this too and gave me a Microsoft document
describing thoroughly the update and having appropriate links for
    downloading it,
in Windows XP para, in Windows 2000 para and so on.
I clicked the download link for Windows XP (which I have) and gave me a file
download window for this update. I followed instructions and downloaded the
update, then restarted as requested my p/c, then went again in Windows update
but it doesn't find my update in my download history, it just shows the
    failures to update it.
It doesn't find either high-priority updates available for me any more
(while before to install KB913446, it kept finding it) and in my Add-remove
programs, the KB913446 appears installed. Is that alright?

Go to your control panel, select add/remove progs and tick the box at the top
which says show updates. Scroll down and KB913446 should appear somewhere on
the list. If it does then it has installed.
Your update history won't tell you that you've updated it as it only
registers automatic updates and installations, you did it manually.
