I have two server 2003 domain controllers, one originally had the Operations
Master role but then the roles were switched over to the new 2003 server. If
I go in ADUC and look at the Operations Master roles for RID, PDC, and
Infrastructure, they all point to the new server. But when I look in the
Event Viewer of the old server, an Operations Masters section appears with
current events logged. This section also appears on our new DC that has the
Ops Master roles. Does this mean my old DC still has some of these roles?

  2. What does
    netdom query fsmo
    print out?

All 5 roles (schema owner, domain role owner, PDC role, RID pool manager, and
Infrastructure owner) all point to our new domain controller (which is what I
want). The reason the roles were switched was b/c this is a new server and
eventually the other older dc may be demoted. It was requested by the senior
    engineer at the time.

  5. Hello cbass,

Can you post the event viewer entry? Open the event properties and use the
2 paper button in the right corner and paste it to the posting. But as the
others said, netdom query fsmo shows you the current FSMO role holder.

    Best regards

according to netdom query all 5 roles (schema owner, domain role owner, PDC
role, RID pool manager, and Infrastructure owner) all point to our new domain
controller (which is what I want). The reason the roles were switched was
b/c this is a new server and eventually the other older dc may be demoted.
