Server is unable to start due to registry error

Discussion in 'Windows Small Business Server' started by Steve Reichgut, Oct 3, 2004.

  1. After restarting the server, I got the following error
    during startup:
    Stop: C0000218 {Registry File Failure} registry cannot
load: \systemroot\system32\config\software or its log or
alternate. It is corrupt, absent or not writeable.

After the error, the server performs a memory dump and
then restarts only to bring me back to this same blue
    screen error.

I have tried booting in Safe Mode with no luck. At this
point, the only thing I have been able to do is boot from
CD to get to the Recovery Console but I am not sure what
    to do next.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  2. Steve,

This is usually a hard drive problem. If I were you I'd probably spend the
$250 on a call to product support. They may be able to nail down for you
whether it is the controller, a driver or the drive itself.
