hi, could anyone help me re subect. i have a work laptop which was previously
on a different network. i added a new drive for the new server but whenever i
install a new software, it says \\server\data\user could not be found. if i
cancel, installation fails, how do i got around this issue / how do i change
the settings such that it learns that that disk is no longer available and
should not be used.everything wors fine except that i cannot install new
software which is annoying as i need some software for work. (i would rate
myself a beginner when it comes to network hdds!!)

    Anything helpful is much appreciated

    Thanks

  2. Hello Majid,

    Thank you for posting here.

From your post, I understand that you added the laptop to a new network and
    an issue was encountered.

In order to avoid confusion, I would like to confirm do you mean that you
removed the laptop from the previous domain and joined it to the new domain?

If so, did you use http://servername/connectcomputer to connect the laptop?

How did you try to install the software? Installed it on the laptop
directly or assigned the software to the laptop?

Please also help me gather following information:

    1. Can the software be installed on other computers in the same network?

    2. Please help me capture screenshots of all error messages you encountered
    and send them to

To capture the image, we can perform the steps below:

    (a) When the error message appears, press the Print Screen key several
times (this key is located to the right of the F12 key on the keyboard)
    (b) Open Paint ['start' => 'All Programs' => 'Accessories' => 'Paint'].
    (c) Click Edit (menu) -> Paste or press Ctrl + V.
    (d) Click File (menu) -> Save. Save it as a .jpg or .gif file and send it
    to me as an attachment.

    3. Please download the MPS Report tool from the following link and run it
on both the laptop and the SBS server, then send the generated CAB file to
my mailbox for further investigation so that we can
find what the root cause is:

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
    15706/MPSRPT_SETUPPerf.EXE

Please try the above steps at your earliest convenience. If you have any
concern, please feel free to let me know.

    Best regards,
