    Hi All

I am trying to configure my sharepoint services for the approval process and
following instructions I find that I dont have a database in my SQL Server.
The database that I need is STS_myservername_1!!!

    I have the following databases:

    MASTER
    MODEL
    MSDB
    NORTHWIND
    PUBS
    TEMPDB

I guess that I could create STS_myservername_1 but it most probably wouldnt
be configured or the tables be populated.

Has anyone got any ideas about this?

  2. You're probably looking at the wrong instance of SQL Server.

Are you connected to SQL instance "<server>\SHAREPOINT" ?

    Hi Steve

    Thanks for a quick response.

OK this is what I done
    Start>Programs>Microsoft SQL Server>Enterprise Manager.

    Console Root
    +Microsoft SQL Servers
    +SQL Server Group
    +(local)(windows NT)
    +COS1\bkupexec (windows NT)

    so from "+(local)(Windows NT)"
    +Databases
    +Master
    +Model
    +MSBD
    +Northwind
    +Pubs
    +Tempdb

In sharepoint the database server has been defined as:
    DATABASE SERVER:
    cos1\sharepoint
    SQL Server Database Name:
    STS_Config

    I cant see that?

    Kindest Regards

    Peter

    OK

I am running SBS 2003 and running MSDB. I already have 1 instance running
    which is <servername>\bkupexec

Is this causing the problem as I am unable to have another instance using
    this version of SBS 2003?

    Kind Regards

    Peter

  5. That's because it's not been registered in Enterprise Manager. Which is
    normal.

If/when you register it in EM, it will be added to the list as
    "COS1\SHAREPOINT".

    Hi There Steve

Is there any chance that you could give me instructions as to how I register
it. I dont know how to do that. I have got Windows Small Business Server
2003. I think that I may have been told that with this I can't have more than
1 instance - not sure if this is correct.

    Many thanks in advance

    Kindest Regards

    Peter

  7. Right click SQL Server groups in EM. Choose "New SQL Server Registration".
    Next.
Enter COS1\SHAREPOINT into the Available Servers box and click Add. Next.
    Next.
    Next.
    Finish.
