Goto What you want to do is called
whole house audio/video distribution. Basically you plug
the outputs from your dvd, tuner, or MCE into whatever
product you choose and it creates a "private tv channel".
Tune what ever tv you are at to this channel and you can
watch dvd's, MCE or whatever. As for controlling the
devices(they are usally in another room) there are many
ways to send ir to the units.
Beware! Low end, low cost equipment usually equals low
quality. i.e. mono instead of stero, poor picture quality.

    Nix, thanks for the link.

I was only able to find one video distribution system that was comparable to
    Avcast. But this system also
broadcasts the audio in MONO instead of stero. Plus it costs more than
twice as much as Avcast (when you add the optional IR Target, which is
    included in the Avcast kit).

Do you know of a specific product that broadcasts in STEREO, using existing
    CATV wiring? Thanks.
