Showed me Vista SP1 update but now gone?

I could have sworn that a day or more ago Windows Update said that Vista SP1
was available and I declined to allow it to do the update.
I went looking for the SP1 update tonight and it no longer shows, even after
    running "wuauclt.exe /detectnow"
What happened to it, was it pulled?

    Hi there,

Just kidding modus: perhaps PA Bear should have provided reading glasses
    with it?

You are referring to XP Sp3, how does that relate to Vista SP1?

For the user with the problem: did you try a manual download?

    Best regards,
    Michel Denie

    <snipp>
Update No. 2: As a result of this RMS glitch, Microsoft also is temporarily
halting the Automatic Download of Vista SP1, as it is affected, as well. But
Microsoft is not pulling Vista SP1 from the Download Center or Windows Update.

    <snip>

The OP was saying it wasn't showing in AU. I should have made mention
applies to SP1 Vista as well - but I'm doing this the hard way via the web
    interface.

    IN addition:
    From the article "http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=1368 "

<snip> Update No. 2: As a result of this RMS glitch, Microsoft also is
temporarily halting the Automatic Download of Vista SP1, as it is affected,
as well. But Microsoft is not pulling Vista SP1 from the Download Center or
    Windows Update.
    <snip>

It appears Vista SP1 is also affected along with WinXP SP3.

    Sorry about the confusion folks.

  6. realcestmoi,

I see you were in 'just kidding mode', but not seeing where that ended - I
feel it should be made clear that the article in question explains both SP3
for Windows XP and SP1 for Windows Vista and their current statuses.

If the customer in question (the original poster) is sure they are not
running any Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System materials (they
should be sure of this pretty easily) then they can indeed download and
install Windows Vista SP1 manually from here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2A-9C9B-4579-B64A-09146A0BA746&displaylang=en
with more information found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936330

For those wondering - the article referenced above
(http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=1368) clearly mentioned Vista SP1 in
the section starting with, "Update No. 2:" - In case you cannot get back to
the page in question, here is the text:

"As a result of this RMS glitch, Microsoft also is temporarily halting the
Automatic Download of Vista SP1, as it is affected, as well. But Microsoft
is not pulling Vista SP1 from the Download Center or Windows Update.

    From a Microsoft spokeswoman:
“Microsoft is temporarily holding any additional automatic distribution of
Windows Vista SP1. However, they continue to offer Windows Vista SP1 via
Windows Update for interactive installation. While we are recommending that
customers running Microsoft Dynamics RMS should not install SP1, there are
many other customers who can benefit from installing Windows Vista SP1
immediately, so we are maintaining availability via WU.”"

The title of the article most certainly is, "XP SP3 not generally available
yet, after all", but the meat of the article says much more than the title
    eludes to.

I'm pretty sure I have no RMS - running plain 'ol Vista Home Premium. How
does one [easily] tell if you are running Microsoft Dynamics Retail
    Management System materials?
I think I'll just wait till MS sorts it all out.

    Thanks!

Nothing surprises me anymore Walter. As you've been offered SP1 for Vista (a couple of
times), use the standalone version and install -

    Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) - 434.5 MB
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6d-5ebb-413b-89c9-cb3d06d12674&DisplayLang=en
    Windows6.0-KB936330-X86-wave0.exe

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista 64-bit (Size: 726.5MB)
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...4B-32B2-41CC-BD8B-D71EDA5EC07C&displaylang=en
    Windows6.0-KB936330-X64-wave0.exe

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 - All Language Standalone DVD ISO
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=a45652b1-e838-420a-b065-83960458e2ec
    6001.18000.080118-1840_iso_client_sp_wave1-FRMCSP1_DVD.iso - 1418.1 MB

Things to know before you download Windows Vista SP1
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsvista/bb968859.aspx

To find out if you are running the 32-bit or 64-bit edition of the Windows Vistaoperating
    system:

    1. Click Start and then click Computer.
    2. From the menu bar, click System properties to view basic information about your
    computer.
    3. Under System, see System type for details.

At least you have SP1 if you need to reinstall.
