What happens if you try the restart button?
Maybe the buttons are mixed up.

Try typing this in the Run window:
    shutdown -s -t 0
I do this: I put this little piece of code in a batch-file and put the
batchfile in C:\Windows under the name 'halt.bat'
    Now when i type
    halt
in the startmenu, my pc shuts down!
    Works even better than xp...

    Try this:
Go to Device Manager, find your mice, go to properties, Power Management tab
and uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer"...

    Works to me.
