Sick to death of Media Center 2550 .. Grr [exception that could not be handled]

Discussion in 'Windows Media Center' started by Tekguru (Daron Brewood), Dec 1, 2004.

  1. Well with the problems of the MCE guide crashing each time it tried to
download data I decided today to take the day off work and reformat the PC.

I decided to get everything as good as possible, all windows patches and
driver updated in, great, and I ran MCE.

I get through the setup as far as testing the internet connection then an
    error:

EHShell.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
    Process id=0xb4(180), Thread id=0x9b8(2488)

I'm about ready to go back to using plain vanilla XP or MCE 2004 at least
    it was stable and worked!

    Anyone any ideas?

    Ok to terminate, etc.

I don't think that will help the original poster who is installing MCE 2005 in
the UK. This KB article is referring to the original MCE which was not even
    available in the UK.

  4. Hmm, it might well be worth reinstalling SP2 though. It can't get any worse
    :)
