    Hi All,

I am wondering is there a way to make the signature stop defaulting to the
TOP of emails on both REPLIES and NEW EMAILS?

I am having to cut and paste it to the bottom.

Have you been to...Tools / Options / Advanced tab...
Check the box...'Signature on the bottom of a Message'
    / Apply / OK.

Pardon me for contradiction. Advanced tab method will not work on Reply and
    Forward. Only on New mail.
If the Op has only one signature on file, the best method is Tools > Options

Did you try : Tools > Options > Signatures. Check the 1st box, and UN-check
    the 2nd.
If you did, you would find the signature appeared when you click New or
    Reply.
Put the cursor ABOVE your signature, left click and start composing.
Personally, I leave both Signature tab and Advanced tab UNCHECKED because I
have 2 different sets of signature.
When I am done composing, I will click Insert > Signature. And I will pick
    the one I want.

Well the only flaw to that is.....

I don’t like how windows live mail puts all replies on TOP of the
message.... I know you can put it at the bottom but everyone is use to my
reply being on top that’s how OUTLOOK 2003 does it, replies on top and
    older messages on down

but putting SIGNATURE at the bottom is..... everytime you reply to an email
    you just see

    REPLY
    REPLY
    OLDER
    OLDER
    OLDER
    ORIGINAL INITIAL MESSAGE
    SIGNATURE
    SIGNATURE
    SIGNATURE
    SIGNATURE

It just keeps tacking on signature to the bottom

Now, I could do it like back when I was on AOL.... Turn off SHOW REPLIES in
    message

So basically when I hit reply its just a blank slate besides my signature. I
    found that option.
Or is that untrendy to do that?

Before I left aol they changed that ( I left this past march ) now whatever
was said last will be below your reply.

    like the demonstration above:

it use to be on AOL:

    REPLY
    SIGNATURE
    REPLY
    SIGNATURE
    REPLY
    SIGNATURE
    ORGINAL

    and so on.....

but with my hotmail account its doing like I said at the top:

    REPLY
    REPLY
    OLDER
    OLDER
    OLDER
    ORGINAL
    SIGNATURE
    SIGNATURE
    SIGNATURE
    SIGNATURE

    Ideas anyone?

I may not have explained properly.
    1. Tools > Options > Signatures. Check 1st box. UNCHECK 2nd box.
    2. Tools > Options > Advanced. UNCHECK " signature at the bottom of a
    message "

As I mentioned on another reply to Christopher, with more than one
signatures on file, it is best for me to leave BOTH Signature tab and
Advanced tab UNCHECK. Use Insert > Signature procedure to select signature
    when finished composing.

Advance tab 'sig on bottom' enable works for me in new, reply and forward in WLM for both mail and news. I have multiple
signatures for different uses applicable to different mail[pop3/http] and news accounts...signature is in the chosen location(top
or bottom based on the advanced tab setting).

Oh yeah...contradictions are great..that's how problems get solved..

But BTW...I thought the the question was, "is there a way to make
the signature stop defaulting to the top?"

The OP was mistaken. It did not default to the top. It can't.
Most likely first thing he saw was his signature, and he proceeded to
    compose underneath it.
    I suggested that :
    1. Tools > Options > Signatures. Check 1st box, UN-check 2nd box.
    2. Tools > Options > Advanced. UN-check " signature on the bottom of a
    message "

The cursor is above the signature when it 'defaults' to the top.

Thus proceeding to compose underneath the sig, would require a cursor movement below the signature...imo, I doubt the op did
that..and only wanted to put his sig at the bottom(for all new, replies and forwards)

It does not work for me ( Sig. on the bottom enabled ).
Signature would appeared at the bottom of the Sender's message to which I
    replied.

I was only speculating, of course.
However, " The cursor is above the signature when it defaults to the top "
    applies only on Reply.
Curser is not visible on Forward.

Speculating the the op was mistaken ?

I realize that you are trying to help..but in some cases your inaccuracy results in misleading information necessitating damage
    control by others.

I am sorry, but in this case I fail to see any Damage Control is needed.
    1. Signature on the bottom of the message will not work on Reply and
Forward. That is true. The signature will appear at the bottom of the LAST
appended message, not on the message one has just composed.
    2. Signature by default cannot appear at the top of the message.
    3. " Cursor will appear at the top of the signature " is true, but ONLY when
    one clicks on Reply.
    4. Cursor will not appear anywhere near the signature when one clicks
    Forward or New.

This is exactly what I'm doing..explaining it to you so you don't misinform someone else again.
The setting moves my signature to the chosen location(top or bottom for New, Reply, Forward).

It puts it on the top or bottom so you can type starting the line above..
    Mine does..look above..it appeared I started typing.
See #1. he option is to place the signature at top or bottom, not the cursor.
    See #3.

And please if you have issues that you can't rationalize, please stop hijacking other peoples threads with your questions..start a
new thread. Hopefully someone will respond.
