I have one CPU on my net and one user (me) where the following event is
    generated:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Userenv
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1030
    Date: 9/9/2005
    Time: 6:29:22 PM
    User: alatecinc\*******
    Computer: DF7HDP41-SAM
    Description:
Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. A message that
describes the reason for this was previously logged by the policy engine.

The event appears related to the reason I went looking for it--on this cpu
alone and with my user alone, the my documents redirection fails. Any
    ideas?

No. Nothing new or useful. The truly puzzling part to me is why one user
on one computer on the net. Everything works great on every other computer
and with every other user account on this one.
