Slow open files by Open+Write

    Hi there,

Here is a problem using DFS. Basically, our DFS is running well, but it's
really slow if we open a file with Open+Write method, for example, Microsoft
Word. If we just copy files in and out using Windows Explorer, it seems OK.
I think big block read and write are good. We don't use any WINS, but use
DNS only. I tried to use our DNS server and outside DNS server, neither
    worked.

What could this problem be? DNS, Browser?

    Thanks for any comments.

  2. Do you experience the same sluggishness when you open the file using a
    non-DFS UNC path?

Sorry, I forgot explain the situation if I don't use DFS. The access speed
is quite normal if we use non-DFS UNC path. For example, our domain name is
NTDFS on the domain controller ADC2, the sharing name is Users.

The opening and writing speed is very slow if using \\NTDFS\Users\xxxx
The speed is normal if using \\ADC2\Users\xxxx

    What's wrong? Thanks.
