WMC shows 2 copies of each song; Windows Explorer only shows one copy of
each song. How do I edit the WMC index (or delete the index and let it
rebuild) to get rid of the redundant entry? Presently if I play an "album", I
hear each song twice. With 4000 songs, deleting one by one would by tedious.
I've been unable to even find the way to do that though.

Searching for "index" came up with nothing.

I found a post giving the location for WMC XP and figured where it would be
for Vista by following similar path:
    <<
The library file is located at C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player. If you delete the
contents of this folder and then run a media discovery in WMP or MC, you
will have a clean database of only the current content.

Note that doing this will lose your play counts on the files and probably
also star-ratings. Small price to pay. You probably want to do a backup of
your licences before doing this as well, and may have to restore your
    license file after.
    It worked.
