I recently upgraded my Sony to MCE 2005 and am having problems with computer
speed and Live TV/Recorded TV playback. The computer seems to be much slower
with 2005 vs. 2004, ie takes a long time to boot and load programs. Also,
when I play Live/'Recorded TV, the video is very choppy and is not
synchronized with the sound. Any suggestions?

  2. That might have to do with the DVD decoder settings. I believe that Sony
uses PowerDVD. You might try downloading the new 60 day trial from ZnVidia.

Is it slow when running normal desktop applications and when not running MCE
at all? If yes then you have to solve that problem first before you worry
    about MCE performance.
Is the system a Laptop with a multispeed CPU? If yes make sure that your new
installation is not setting the CPU to run at slow default.

Media Center is the only thing that seems to be slow except now it takes
longer to boot the computer. I have a Sony with a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz
processor and 1 GB ram - desktop. MCE 2004 ran great.

Without MCE running check your CPU Utilization it should be about 5%. If
not look for a process that it is consuming a lot of CPU power and try
    stopping it.
