Sound not working properly, just one speaker and poor quality

    Hi guys, I've had this problem a long time now but have mainly been using
    itunes which plays my music fine.
    However I want to switch back to WMP but I have a problem. The sound from
    music and videos only comes out of my right speaker and in very poor crackly
    quality.
    All of my other programs and iTunes play my music fine but WMP doesnt.
    I have checked all of the sliders etc. are centered and stuff but I think
    the problem is probably due to a codec or something? I'm not sure really just
    guessing.
