When playing DVD's in Media player v 11.0.5, I started having problems where
the soundtrack is entirely too loud but the dialogue is so soft as to be
almost completely inaudible. It is as if the software is muting the dialogue
in each DVD. This occurs regardless of which DVD is played. It also occurs
regardless of which speakers I route the sound through. Rebooting has not
solved the problem. The problem does not seem to occur for streaming video,
just DVD's Could this be some setting in the registry that has gotten knocked
out of kilter, or is my audio codec corrupt, or what? Ideas?

I had the same problem. I´m running windows XP. In particular case when reproduced a DVD with WMP 11, an audio decoder icon appears at services bars. The decoder is ffdshows. I´m right clicked over it and the select "mixer" codec. Problem solved.
