Spacebar reading newsfroups in Windows Mail

For decades I have used OE to read newsgroups, one really great feature
the use of the space-bar. Just tap it to read the next message...
    Unless the
current message was longer than would fit in the reading pane, then
spacebar tap would page-down to allow reading more of the message, and
    so on
until the end, when the next tap go to the next message. Now in Vista
(Windows Mail) the spacebar goes to the next message, never showing
then the first screen of any message.

Is it the same for everyone? Or is my system hosed? Is there a setting
    I missed?

I know it is extremely minor, but the long list of tiny irritations
Vista is driving me slowly insane!

I don't know about settings for the space bar.

There's a scroll bar at the right you can move while putting the mouse
arrow on it and then holding down the left mouse button.

  3. For me the spacebar works as expected, just like it did in OE.
There is no setting for it. I have no idea why yours doesn't work
    that way.

I have Vista Windows Mail and I am able to use the space-bar in the way that
you desire ("page-down to allow reading more of the message, and so on")
and as it was with XP. Not sure why you wouldn't be able to do the same.

Thanks for the comeback guys. Now, at least, I know it is my system, not
across the board. Not sure how that helps me debug things though. :-(

  6. Sorry, I have no idea how you would debug something like that.
If it was me, I'd simply upgrade to Windows Live Mail, in the
hopes that will cure the problem.

Thanks, Gary. I will probably do that. Or use Thunderbird, or just use
the Usenet Web-surrogate like I have been. I have no clue how something
like this could be different on different machines without a setting, or
a registry key... Unless it is a different code version?

On my Vista install, if the message is long, the spacebar will scroll through
the entire message if it is longer than the area displayed in my Preview Pane
and at the end of the message it goes to the next message. If the message only
fills the area of my Preview Pane, the spacebar immediately scrolls to the next

  9. It works for me but I don't use it. I put the Next Unread Message button on
    the toolbar and use that.
