Hello: I recently installed Active Directory on my 2003
server. I've joined all my workstations to the domain and
added all my users. I keep getting an error message when
I try to make each domain user an administrator on their
respective workstations. From each workstation, I log in
as the domain administrator. I go to Administrative Tools
and Local Users/Groups. I try to add the domain user
(i.e. DOMAIN\john) as an administrator, and I get
this: "processing of object DOMAIN\user failed with
following error - specified domain either does not exist
or could not be contacted." This is very strange, because
I'm logged in to the domain at the time, and I can access
data on the server. Maybe there's a security setting that
    I'm missing?

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

  2. What are your DNS settings ? Are your workstations pointing to the same
internal AD DNS server ? Run netdiag on your workstations. Post your
ipconfig /all from your workstation if you can.
