Split DNS

I am running sbs 2003 premium server. I am running what I think is a split
dns, unless I misunderstand what split dns is. Up until now I understood
that split dns is two zones. One zone is the original domain zone. The
other zone I create typically using external or internet domain name. There
I would create the host like www. The problem arises when I publish OWA
using https as certificates are generated for the external name. Hence,
when trying to connect to public folder, the server name on the certificate
doesn't match the active directory's principal name.

Would anyone know how to solve this?

    Thanks in advance

  2. The easiest way to fix it is to drop the split DNS setup :^)

Honestly, it is pretty rare that we really need a split DNS setup on our SBS
LANs. About the only time this is really necessary is if you have some sort
of LOB app that is published directly to the internet so you can use /
access it remotely. Otherwise, all a split DNS setup does is really
    complicate your life.

Besides, a split DNS setup shouldn't affect accessing OWA externally . . .
or are you trying to access OWA internally using your public domain name?
