    Hello everybody,

with the "maintain my star ratings as global ratings in files"
option checked in Media Player 11, the star ratings are saved
    in my mp3 files, right?

But how? As a tag? Does the mp3 format support such a
rating tag? I can't see any rating tag with "Media Tagger"
(a tool that is specialized on mp3 tags).

    Thank for help! :)

I think that WMP 9 was the last version where WMP used the proper ID3 frame
for storing ratings. Now they are stored in a PRIV frame and, as far as I
know, there's no documentation on how it is stored exactly.

It wouldn't be too hard to figure out, though, if you look at a track with
my ID3 Raw Tag Viewer at
    http://www.dalepreston.com/Blog/2007/02/id3-raw-tag-viewer.html.

I suggest making a copy of a track and add the copy to your library so you
have two copies of an identical track. Now change the rating in one of them.
You can open two instances of my ID3 Raw Tag Viewer and look at the tags in
    both tracks at once.

Actually, I have thought about trying to get to the answer you are looking
for but just haven't had the time. If you figure out a scheme there, post
back and let us know how it works - assuming someone else doesn't simplify
the whole thing by posting existing documentation that already answers the
    question.
