Every time WMP (10) attempts to play a video file, WMP auto-dials. I ahve
set all defaults the best I can. But please, I live in foreign country
where telephone-internet time is EXTREMELY expensive.

    Thanks

Mike, thanks for the reply, but I already had those options unchecked. The
problem is in the fundamental programming of MS products -- (1) MS assumes
we all live in a broadband world 24 hours a day -- maybe that day will come,
but not yet in various places in the world; and (2) MS assumes we all want
universally MS products -- WMP is programmed to be carefully integrated with
    IE.

The problem with WMP was and is it is trying to work online. Check the
Work-Offline option, and WMP does not try to dial. But then Internet
Explorer thinks that it is working offline, and when you do want to connect
via IE, nothing happens until you uncheck work-offline.

    Bad programming.

Have instructed my staff to switch to Winamp or anything other than MS
    products.

    Thanks anyway,
