Straw Pole: Do people use a front-end SMTP server to Exchange?

Discussion in 'Windows Small Business Server' started by Andrew Hodgson, Aug 10, 2005.

  1. Hi,

I am wondering whether people use a front-end MX server in front of
SBS Exchange? I have always done this as a matter of having it
drummed into me that I should have such a host always in front of
    Exchange.

However, which devices do people use, or do most people here not
    actually bother?

I use a Net Pilot device, which is a good anti spam and antivirus
    solution in front of Exchange.

    Andrew.

I've only got one of my 15 or so SBS servers with a mail device infront of
    it.

Because ISA proxies the mail through itself, it's not that bad.

  3. Probably more of an Enterprise solution. I have not seen it used in SBS
    world.
