When trying to install iTunes onto Windows Vista, I get the error soon after
    the start of installation

"String PRODUCT_NAME was not found in string table". Clicking OK a number of
times, I get various errors relating to differing string numbers. After
filling in my personal details I get the error

"String IDS_SHORT_NAME was not found in string table". Then
"String IDS_INSTALLING_UPDATER was not found in string table".

You get the picture. Eventually it asks for a restart to complete
installation. It restarts to the usual desktop, with no indication of
ongoing activity. In the start menu is a folder "IDS_UPDATER_SHORTCUT_DIR".
With an ipod updater file, but no itunes.

    1. What is a string table, or string ?
    2. How do I get around this problem ?

    Thanks

  2. Hi,

I'm not sure if iTunes installer is created with using InstallShield but,
that errors can occure if in installer script are used string variable which
are not definied in string table.

    1. In installer there are strings (words or sentences) which are used for
displaying texts on installer dialogs. All strings should be definied into
string table (table with words or sentences used by installer)

    2. Find out another one iTunes installer - this one is broken.
