This may seem like an ad, but it's not.
I've got nothing to do with them.

    Some interesting points:
    * A 3rd party "EPG" since this is not normally available in Sweden by MS.
    (I think its from http://www.sveakanal.se/)

    * Software: Intel's "Front Panel Studio", Plugin for MCE2005, to handle
additional video sources plugged into the front: analog or digital.
Pass-throug, with no delayed playback or record directly to the drive.
(Very useful I would think to grab VHS video sources for example)

    * A new case clever case

    URL:
    http://www.network.se/mediastation/?modell=xperience
    (Does anyone recognize this case??)

Any idea how they did this? There seem to be a lot of solutions out there to
get a guide going for non supported countries, but none of them are
    userfriendly at all.

I think someone spent money..is how they did it.
In return they'll sell the service after a certain "free time" expires
In the above case it might be:
    http://www.fiftyseven.se/FSCPresent_en.html
(The actual source/provider of the EPG data..)

My guess is that they bundle it in: ie. there's a fee that goes to the EPG
provider with each box the OEM/builder sells...later they'll try to sell it
    to you?
    Only speculation though..

Could be, that solution there is another one in the box of hack solutions,
since it's a general HTML plug-in, which everyone can do.
