I have a music library on windows media player that I want to sync to itunes.
    How do I do that?

You probably can't for reasons of file format and hardware
incompatibility. Without specifying either of these, it's hard to help
    further.

Actually, I answered my own question with some fiddling around, & it is
actually quite simple. You click on "File" in the upper left corner of
itunes, choose "add folder to library" from the drop-down menu, and choose
albums from My Music on Windows XP hard drive. Itunes converts them from the
Window media player to its library so you can put them on your ipod. Cool!

There *will* be side-effects if you run both together.

Are they all MP3 files ? (That's the only common format between WMP
and iTunes). If they are, you should be able to tell iTunes to search
for music and it ought to find any compatible files on your PC.
