Tabs either not opening or not displaying data

After running IE7 for part of a day, if I try to open a web page in a new
tab, that tab will either not open or it will not display the page I'm trying
to visit. When this happens, Windows Explorer will also not allow me to open
new programs from the start menu or will start the programs with errors.
Exiting IE and restarting it takes care of this problem unless there is a
phantom "iexplore.exe" program that does not die when all the IE windows are
closed. In those cases, you have to kill the iexplore.exe from the task
    manager.

I do have Adobe Acrobat 8 installed on my work computer and at times, the
Adobe toolbar shows when I restart IE, but I'm not sure it is related as I
have another computer at home that I use IE7 with and it seems to have the
    same problem.

Could it have something to do with Norton Anti-Virus?

  2. Try re-installing IE7.

  3. What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop and choose Start Without
    Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
    Explorer (No Add-ons).
