There appear duplicate registry entries for WLM

    Currently I have the "reply at end" option disabled (tools -> options ->
    advanced). Alas, it would be better to have the "reply at end" and
    "signature at end" as separate options for e-mail and newsgroups; I.e.,
    have one set dictate what to do for e-mails versus what to do for
    newsgroup posts. E-mails typically have the replies at the top whereas
    newsgroups typically have replies at the bottom. But that's a feature
    request. My concern is that I noticed there are 2 "reply at end"
    settings in the registry. Under the registry keys are found this

    Key = HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail
    Item name = Reply At End
    Item value = 1

    Key = HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Advanced
    Item name = Reply At End
    Item value = 0

    So the 2nd data item matches up with my setting (since replying at the
    top means "reply at end" is disabled which means it get a value of
    zero). These two items shown above have unmatched values: one is 1 and
    the other is 0. The 2nd one (with value of 0) matches up with the
    setting shown in the UI for advanced options. So what does the first
    item represent (that has a value of 1)? Why are there 2 "reply at end"
    options in the registry?

  2. Hi

    The one we currently use is:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Advanced Settings

    I would guess the other one was written due to a migration from a past
    version or OE, but I'm afraid I don't have the history to know for sure.

    Okay, thanks. I figured it might be a remnant and unused but hope
    springs eternal and maybe one was for e-mail versus the other for
    newsgroups. I'll have to resign myself to have the reply at end option
    enforced on both e-mails and newsgroup posts <sorrowfulsigh>.
