Thinkpad T60 conflicts?

I have a new ThinkPad T60. I installed Norton Antivirus and a few other
pieces of software. Startup seems to take a long time now, stalling with the
CPU usage near 0% and hard drive LED mostly off. Has anyone run into
conflicts with their ThinkPads? I uninstalled Access Connections and CSS,
which sped things up significantly (bootup was taking 10 minutes just to get
into logon screen, and startup was taking 40 more minutes), so bootup takes
nearly no time now, but startup still takes a good 10-20 minutes. How can I
find out which pieces of software are conflicting with each other? I do not
believe it is a hardware issue, since I have only had it for ~1 wk, and did
not have any problems before upgrading to a full version of Norton Antivirus
    and adding other programs.
