When I go to play a music cd I always get this error message: "This file
does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create
an association in the Set Associations control panel."

I just close the error message and then everything seems to work fine. But
it's annoying; what do I need to do?

I have Media Player version: 11.0.6001.7000
Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1

How exactly are you trying to play the CD?

I'm glad you asked that question because as a result I discovered that it
happens if I put the cd in and just let it start up on its own but if I open
Media Player and then put the cd in, it doesn't happen.

You solved my problem! It was set to use RealPlayer which I uninstalled not
    long ago. Thanks much.
