I am having a time and date error for Windows 98SE. Is this a new
issue? It started late last night.

My surmise as to the cuase of this problem is that it is related to the security certificate not being valid the message fopr which began generating on 5/5/04.

This is the answer if you would bother reading the full thread. It is
not necessary to switch your clock back a day. See this:

I am glad the problem is fixed. Thanks for the reply. I appreciate
    the information.

: You do not need the work around. As of P.M. on 5/5 the problem is
fixed presaumably by MS. The certifcate error problem has disappeared.
I have tried it twice without changing the clock or using //hpps and
WIndiows Update works properly as before.

Mysteriously, neither the https solution or the setting the clock a day back solution worked for me. So I gave up and manually downloaded what I knew I needed. Way to screw up Microsoft! I feel much better about switching now.

I knocked my date back a day and hit the update site and found I had the same problem

When I put the date back to the correct day the update site started working properly. Now I've got to get all 15 updates :

Thanks to all who posted tips on this issue
