Wanted to change my server domain name - made too long and it had let me do
that. Tried to research it and came across steps on Dell forum about running
dcpromo, which I did. Ran reinstall disks that brought back AD. I now have a
new domain, I can get on the internet. But There's an extra Administrator
account. Server management has disappeared. Seems like some things are trying
to point elsewhere when I view the event logs. I also have to disable
Exchange components otherwise startup hangs. i was prepared to do a reinstall
before I made the changes, but I thought I'd check before I start on Monday.
Tried calling Dell to see if they could suggestanything, but the guy I talked
    to knew less than me.

  2. Yes, I vote wipe disk and re-install.

Long server names and long domain names will wear on you really quickly
    anyway. Keep them short.

This has no implications on your public fqdn, nor your email domain - so
make life easy and use short names.
