tool for adding groups to ntfs and shares ?

  1. hi !

i´m looking for a tool, script or how-to...

new groups should be added on several ntfs folders and shares , according to
    the allready existing ones.

    i.E. :
if group A has access rights to a folder, group B should be added with the
same rights and with the same influence on subdirectiers and files.

    any idea ?

  3. Hi Doug,

i thought about that, but because of the nice human readable oupt, i have no
clue how to script it, so that it walks somewhat automatic from directory to
    directory and checks for groups...

  4. Ralf,
Did you look at (NT Resource Kit utility) PERMCOPY? I've never used
says it works with shares so it may not do what you want it to, although you
might be able to control access at the share level and grant Everyone Full
Control to the folder(s) themselves. Another possibility might be to grant
access permissions to a "super group" which is a superset of Group A, Group
B, etc. so that when you add a Group C, you need only to add Group C to the
    "super group".
    Hope this helps...
